PTO is working on a website that will list the Goshen AR booklist, detailed instructions on the program, and prize information. We are looking for volunteers who will be able to assist students and teachers with this incredible program in the media center. If you or someone you know would be interested in reading to children and helping with this program, please contact the chair of this committee.

Assemblies
|
The
assemblies committee is currently in the process of looking for programs to enhance the educational experience for the students at
Goshen. Some programs we are looking into are the MYSCI program from Monsanto, the H.E.RO.S IN ACTION
anti-bullying program and some programs through the St. Louis Repertory Theatre. |

New committee for 2012! This group is responsible for sending home PTO updates as special events occur. This would include creating a creative PTO flier home etc. This committee can organize a schedule and will work with the PTO Board's assistance.

Entertainment Books |
Books went home on 8/19. The Sale will run thru 9/2 when all order forms are due. Instead of filling orders as they are received, Goshen and the PTO has chosen to send all the filled orders home at the same time to reduce confusion imposed by books going back and forth every day. Those parents’ with particularly large numbers of books ordered will be contacted to arrange for pickup since they can't be transported in the students backpack. There will be an order filling/verification workday on Thursday 9/8 from 10-1 and 2-3 volunteers will be requested to help with this effort. The Prize distribution process has not been decided on, but the winning classes will get to visit an ice cream truck together after their lunch one day.

Fall Festival
|
The Fall Festival has been scheduled for Saturday, October 22nd. This gives us a lot more time for planning, but also presents a challenge because we don’t know what the weather is going to do. Our first planning meeting will be held on September 7th at Goshen from 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm. If you would like to help, we will see you at the meeting.

Family Portrait Day
|
We plan to provide a day in which families and children at Goshen can be photographed by a talented photographer at very reasonable prices. The committee is in the planning stages of selecting a date and theme. Details to follow!!!

Foreign Language
|
The Goshen PTO is excited to announce that the Foreign Language club will begin meeting again in October. We will be offering beginner and advanced Spanish classes before and after school. We will also be adding a new beginner language class after school. This is still in the works but we are hoping to offer Mandarin Chinese or German. Be on the lookout for a flyer to go home with your child in the next few weeks.

The laminating boxes and Laminating Request Forms are currently out on the counter in the workroom for teacher and staff requests. We are currently in the process of meeting with the committee to set up the official schedule of when volunteers will be in each week.

We are off to a fabulous start this school year! The PTO would like to thank everyone for coming out on the Open House night and visiting the book fair. Thank you for encouraging a love of reading. This encouragement will assist the students to develop reading skills that will be out of this world! The first Goshen Spirit day will be held on Friday, August 26th. Please have your little gator wear their spirit wear shirt or gator green and gold. Staff Appreciation

The PTO was happy to provide a catered lunch put on by Fazoli's of Edwardsville. It was a great way to welcome all of our truly dedicated and talented teachers and staff back to Goshen
for the 2011-2012 school year. The committee is in the process of
setting up a planning meeting to discuss ideas for our next Staff
